Theatre Threads: Feuilly’s Fashions & Grantaire’s Garments

The most laid-back and carefree (almost to a fault) of the group is certainly Grantaire. He doesn’t believe in much, and fashion is certainly not high on the priority list. He has no desire to stand out in a crowd, hence his use of a neutral color palette and baggy, shapeless clothes.

Grantaire’s has a brilliant mind, full of pointed arguments and beautiful ideals, but finds it difficult and quite frankly, too exhausting to try and express them. His use of fashion is an outward representation of this.

Most of his clothes have been around for a while, so they’re nice and worn and comfortable. He makes such a fuss about not caring what he wears, but he is rarely seen with out his staple crimson Converse. He’s had them ever since he started attending meetings at the Café Musain. The color stands in stark contrast to the rest of his wardrobe, but he doesn’t mind. He actually likes the look that comes with the pairing of the complementary colors.

Feuilly, a fan maker and passionate revolutionary, has a very… different take on casual wear than his ABC friends. Feuilly is an orphan and never had a mother to dress him properly. Also, he cares far too much about the poor displaced Polish people than buying pants. This being said, he spends as little money as possible and shops exclusively at thrift shops.

Ironically enough, his lack of money and time spent on choosing his wardrobe is remarkably trendy in a hipster, “I don’t give a crap” type of way. He wears what he likes even though his buddies rag on him all the time. Unlike Courfeyrac, Feuilly doesn’t try as hard to make a statement with his clothing, but his attraction towards bold patterns and bulky accessories sometimes makes him the neighborhood eyesore.
