Theatre Threads: Holly Golightly ~ Past and Present

x-9

The movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s is set in the 1960s, but the new Broadway adaptation is set in the 1940s. I wanted to explore the iconic look of Holly Golightly in both past and present. The little black dress is a classic staple for every woman, but the number of styles, cuts, and accessories available has changed drastically throughout history.

Holly is an independent soul, a trendsetter for fashion even 40 years after her first appearance on the cinematic scene. Her look, like the little black dress, transcends any time period. She is playful and she chooses daring and personality-revealing accessories to make her own unique stamp on any occasion: a statement necklace, an extravagant headpiece, elegant gloves and perhaps a sensible touch of Tiffany blue.
