‘Tuck Everlasting’, a new musical starring Andrew Keenan-Bolger, postpones pre-Broadway run

For the past several months I have boasted having front and center seats to see Andrew Keenan-Bolger’s new musical Tuck Everlasting.

But, like most things that seem too good to be true, the new musical inspired by the 1975 children’s novel has postponed its summer pre-Broadway production at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston.

An official email on behalf of Broadway in Boston said the reason for the postponement was “due to a lack of theatre ability for its planned subsequent production in New York.”

The musical, which would also star Carolee Carmello, was scheduled to play from July 28 to August 18.

Needless to say, the thrill of having my bank account boosted by a couple hundred dollars pales in comparison to how thrilled I was by the potential of seeing the Newsies star (and one of my very favorite people) originate a role that influenced my childhood and so many others.

(Who else remembers grade school book reports based on the novel?)

While I sigh heavily and cross my fingers that Keenan-Bolger slips back into his role as Crutchie in the interim, let me know what you think about the postponement.
